We produce CO2 with purity of over 99.998%, well above the standard food grade requirement.


Why our CO2 is Green

We capture CO2 from the fermentation process in partner whisky distilleries using advanced carbon capture equipment. Whisky production starts with barley or wheat being grown, then fermented (releasing CO2) and then new barley or wheat being grown again for the next batch. This overall process, like biomass, is carbon neutral since the growing of the barley or wheat captures CO2 from the atmosphere to offset the CO2 that is released in the fermentation process.

By capturing the CO2 from the fermentation stage of whisky production and continuing to plant and grow new barley or wheat the overall process becomes carbon negative, making this CO2 not only exceptionally high purity but also green as the emissions associated with the use of the CO2 recovery equipment and transportation of it are only a few percent of the total CO2 captured.
